Disclosure: So I sold one of the riskier stocks from my portfolio for a loss. Now I was wondering if I can offset that loss against the gain in another stock? If so, what do I need to do to claim that?

Yes you can.
You can as well file for tax refund if the gain is up to 4 lacs and you don’t have any other income (i.e you can claim basic exemption limit)

For it you need to calculate your total tax liability and net tax payable and file the income tax return of that income year and submit it at end of ashoj end.
No if u trade as a natural person but if you trade through company yes you can
