If I have some physical paper shares that I want to sell and get rid off I need to first dematerialize it, so I would have to open a demat account from one of the DPs and convert my physical shares accordingly.

My understanding is Once I open a demat ac., If I am not going to apply for any ipos or if i just sell the shares i have through a broker I still need to apply for C-Asba right?
Or do I still need C-asba?

To keep it short:
I have some physical shares. I want to sell it off. For that I have to convert it to digit and open a demat ac. But will I still need to apply for c-asba?

Thank you.
