Nepal experienced a significant boost in tourism this August, welcoming 72,719 international tourists, as reported by the Nepal Tourism Board. This represents an 8.29% increase compared to the 67,153 tourists who visited in August 2023.
The rise in tourist arrivals is even more impressive when compared to August 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, showing a 76.75% increase in visitors.
The majority of tourists in August 2024 came from India, China, the United States, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. India led the way with 25,832 visitors, followed by China with 6,614, the United States with 5,614, Sri Lanka with 4,851, and Bangladesh with 3,077 tourists.
