NEPSE Index Records Slight Gain Amid Market Fluctuations

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index showed a minor increase today, closing at 2,968.44 points. This marks a slight gain of 2.11 points or 0.07% from the previous day’s close of 2,966.33 points, when the index had dropped by 34.47 points.

Today’s trading began with the index at 2,981.03 points and experienced significant fluctuations. The NEPSE index hit an intraday high of 3,002.74 points but also dropped to a low of 2,943.61 points before settling at its final value.

The session was characterized by active trading, with 337 companies’ shares exchanged in 214,319 transactions. A total of 41,454,611 shares were traded, leading to a turnover of Rs. 18.90 Arba. The market capitalization rose to Rs. 47.14 Kharba, while the float market capitalization reached Rs. 16.63 Kharba.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) was the top performer in terms of turnover, recording Rs. 66.02 Crores and closing at Rs. 980 per share.

Additionally, five companies reached their upper circuit limit with a 10% increase in share prices. However, not all sectors fared well—Karnali Development Bank Limited (KRBL) was the biggest loser, with its stock dropping by 10%.

In sector-wise performance, the “Finance Index” led the gains with a 4.99% increase, while the “Trading Index” saw the biggest decline, falling by 2.09%. The day ended with mixed results, reflecting both gains and losses across different sectors.
