    There are different types of shares out there but both public shares and promoter shares are more or less the same except that promotor shares cannot be traded as freely as public shares due to the limitations imposed on their possession. In order to buy promotor shares, one has to meet extra requirements.

    As a result, promotor shares are not as liquidifiable as public shares and this reflects in their market prices.
