Perhaps a stupid question, but as the title suggests, I would like to know where I can buy and sell gold bars (i am not exactly sure what they are called?) in KTM. Just trying to avoid/minimize overhead costs associated with buying jewelry.

  1. Commodity market(afaik only precious metals) is legal and is tradable in Nepal, Tara I don’t know how liquid the market is as i’ve never traded there, I think there is an commodity exchange called mexnepal, go consult with them.

  2. As far as I know, it is illegal to transact in raw gold – that’s why you can only bring jewellery upto a certain limit when you come from abroad. Only banks import raw gold, and then the gold jewellers buy from them. There’s probably a place you can do that but it won’t be legal. And that way you run the risk of buying fake shit.
