Nepse Index Soars: Stock Market Shows Positive Momentum on Monday
Hey stock market enthusiasts! Get ready for some exciting news from the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse). The stock market had a great start to the week, with the Nepse index experiencing a significant surge.
On Monday, the Nepse index closed at 2761.26, marking a substantial increase of 21.30 points. The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of Class “A” companies, also saw a positive movement, rising by 3.18 points to reach 474.38. Furthermore, the Float Index increased by 1.29 points, and the Sensitive Index increased by 1.07 points, reflecting the overall positive sentiment in the market.
Trading activity was robust, with 10,877,942 shares traded across 317 companies. The total transaction volume reached NPR 5.75 billion. While this is a decrease of NPR 79.54 million compared to Sunday’s trading of NPR 6.54 billion, the overall trend remains positive.
The market capitalization for the day stood at a staggering NPR 46.14 trillion. A majority of companies saw their share prices climb, with 179 companies experiencing gains compared to 71 companies experiencing a decrease. This indicates widespread confidence in the market.
Sector-wise, the performance was generally positive. Eleven of the thirteen sectoral indices showed gains. Notable increases were observed in the Commercial Banks (up 8 points), Development Banks (up 54 points), Finance (up 5 points), Hotel & Tourism (up 32 points), Hydropower (up 12 points), Life Insurance (up 72 points), Microfinance (up 77 points), Non-Life Insurance (up 39 points), Trading (up 2 points) and Others (up 72 points). Only the Manufacturing & Processing (down 4 points) and Mutual Fund (down 0.07 points) sectors experienced declines.
The most actively traded companies by value were Nepal Reinsurance Company, Himalayan Reinsurance, Himalayan Distillery, Radhi Bidyut Company, and Chhimek Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha. Trading volume for Nepal Reinsurance Company was NPR 769.6 million. Himalayan Reinsurance reached NPR 233.9 million, followed by Himalayan Distillery at NPR 206.6 million, Radhi Bidyut Company at NPR 177.1 million, and Chhimek Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha at NPR 176.5 million.
