Mandu Hydropower Project Back Online After Flood Disruption: Hydroelectric Power Generation Resumes!

Mandu Hydropower Limited has announced the successful re-commissioning of its small hydropower project, a 23 megawatt facility, following a period of closure due to severe flooding in the Bagmati River area. The project, which experienced infrastructure damage and subsequent production stoppage due to the heavy rainfall and resulting floods that began on June 24th, 2025, has been meticulously repaired and restored. After comprehensive maintenance and rehabilitation efforts, Mandu Hydropower has successfully restarted operations. As of August 24th, 2025, two units are now contributing approximately 12 megawatts of electricity.
The hydroelectric plant is now feeding its generated electricity into the national transmission grid managed by Nepal Electricity Authority. This signifies a positive development in the aftermath of the natural disaster, restoring crucial power generation capacity.
