Nepali Stock Market Update: Nepse Index Dips on Sunday

Kathmandu – The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a downturn on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The NEPSE index closed at 2739.95 points, marking a decrease of 18.02 points. This stock market analysis reveals a shift in market sentiment compared to the previous session.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of Class A shares, also declined by 3.06 points, reaching 471.19. The float index decreased by 1.38 points and the Sensitive Index decreased by 1.18 points, adding to the bearish trend. On Sunday, a total of 14,009,708 shares from 323 different companies were traded. The total transaction amount reached NPR 6.54 billion. Out of the 13 listed groups, only 1 saw gains, while the remaining 12 declined. The production and processing group experienced a gain of 12 points. The banking sector fell by 13 points, development banks by 98 points, finance by 13 points, the hotel and tourism sector by 48 points, hydropower by 43 points, investment by 0.87 points, life insurance by 57 points, microfinance by 8 points, mutual funds by 0.03 points, non-life insurance by 63 points, trade by 8 points, and other groups by 3 points. In terms of trading volume, the top-performing companies were Himalayan Distillery, Nepal Reinsurance, Himalayan Reinsurance, Butwal Power Company, and Shivam Cements. Himalayan Distillery recorded transactions worth NPR 1.75 billion, Nepal Reinsurance NPR 244.7 million, Himalayan Reinsurance NPR 233.5 million, Butwal Power Company NPR 137.3 million, and Shivam Cements NPR 120.6 million.
