Kathmandu – Nepal’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has said that big changes are needed for the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS). He calls it a must to fix problems in the mobile import and mobile business sector.
The minister spoke at the second convention of the Nepal Mobile Entrepreneurs Association in Kathmandu on Saturday. He said he studied the MDMS Nepal system right after starting his job. He found many irregularities and deep problems. So, MDMS reform is very important now.
Minister Kharel explained that fixing the MDMS system will not happen fast. It needs slow but strong steps. This will help make things clear in government revenue from mobile phones and fair for mobile entrepreneurs.
He praised the mobile business in Nepal. It helps grow the Nepal economy, creates jobs, and connects families. The sector is run mostly by young people. It gives direct jobs to about 100,000 people. In Kathmandu Valley alone, there are nearly 4,000 mobile shops.
The minister said the government thanks mobile entrepreneurs for their hard work. The mobile sector is linked to his ministry. He wants good talks with the Nepal Mobile Entrepreneurs Federation to find real solutions together.
With little time left for the current government, Minister Kharel promised to do practical MDMS changes soon. He sees the government as new and young. With fresh ideas and teamwork, old problems like in MDMS Nepal can be solved.
