Nepal Remittance Inflows Rise Sharply in 2025/26

Nepal is seeing a strong rise in remittance inflows, which is very positive for the Nepal economy, foreign exchange reserve, and the NEPSE stock market. According to the latest data, remittance inflows increased by 31.4% to Rs. 687.13 billion in the first four months of fiscal year 2025/26. This growth is much higher than last year, when remittance grew by only 9.4% in the same period.

During Kartik month (mid-October to mid-November), Nepal remittance reached Rs. 133.82 billion, compared to Rs. 114.31 billion in the previous year. This clearly shows a strong cash inflow into Nepal, which supports liquidity, banking sector stability, and stock market sentiment.

In US Dollar terms, remittance inflows rose by 25.3% to USD 4.88 billion, which helps strengthen Nepal Rastra Bank reserves and supports macroeconomic stability.

Foreign Employment Supports Remittance Growth

The number of Nepali workers going abroad for foreign employment remains high. During this period, 145,973 workers took first-time approval, while 127,837 workers took renewal approval. This steady flow of workers abroad continues to support Nepal remittance inflow, household income, and domestic consumption.

The net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs. 754.93 billion, up sharply from Rs. 569.29 billion last year. This money plays a major role in boosting GDP growth, consumer spending, and listed company earnings in Nepal.
